Brittney Griner knew throughout her time in Russia that her return as a member of the Phoenix Mercury would come on Sunday eventually. He didn't know when.

Griner said after her first boot camp workout that she hoped her next workout wouldn't come until she was released from a Russian prison after serving her nine-year sentence,

which was caught in front of a handful of cameras doing a quick calculation, Griner guessed October 25 at 2030,

"If it were nine integers, that would probably be  my release date"; said Grier."It would be very different.

I don't know if I would have been on the pitch back then. But yeah, I honestly only prepared for the long haul. You never know. It's time to get back on the pitch."

It happened late Sunday morning, and after a two-hour workout, Griner said he felt "so good." but he understood he still had challenges, both mental and physical,

to face while preparing for the regular season, which begins in about three weeks.
