Ed Sheeran has spoken out against 'dangerous' copyright claims after winning a lawsuit in which he allegedly copied 

Marvin Gaye's classic 'Let's Get It On'; when he wrote his Grammy-winning song Thinking Out Loud.

Speaking in federal court in Manhattan on Thursday, the musician said he was "definitely happy." the jury found in his favor.

"At the same time, I am incredibly frustrated that such unsubstantiated claims could even go to court," he said.

Sheeran has been accused of copying the sheet music for "Let's Get It On" from the family of the song's late co-writer Ed Townsend.

The lawsuit alleged that Sheeran borrowed the beat, chord progression and other elements for his 2014 song "Thinking Out Loud." without permission from the 1973 soul music classic "Let's Get It On"."

Sheeran criticized the plaintiff's musicologist's attempts to manipulate the jury during the trial to make "misleading comparisons"; between two tracks.

However, that hasn't stopped fans from teasing him on Twitter, sharing hilarious tweets about the possibility of a romance between the two.
